Alberto Bercovitz Rodríguez-Cano
Mr. Bercovitz is a Professor of Commerce Law in the National Distance Learning University of Spain (UNED), where he has been the Deputy Head, due to his previous wide experience in legal academics as, since 1970 he has also been a Professor for, successively, the Universities of Murcia and Salamanca, and has been awarded Honoris Causa doctorates by the universities of Lyon, Zaragoza and Buenos Aires.
Mr. Bercovitz is a renowned specialist, not only in the field of Commerce Law but also in those of Intellectual Property, Patent Law and Competition Law, as he has combined his academic work with that of a practicing solicitor and counsel, and has taken an active part in the drafting of various current laws in these areas.
As such, he has been a permanent member of the General Legislative Committee of the Ministry of Justice, where he has been the author and co-author of various bills in the aforementioned fields of law, and has collaborated in bringing into domestic law, the EU regulations on Corporations and Economic Interest Groups.
He has been the Head of national and international bodies concerning the protection and promotion of Intellectual Property Rights, as well as the head of the Spanish branch of the ‘Ligue du Droit de la Concurrence’ (now, Honorary President) and a member of the ‘Commission on European Contract Law’.
He is also a part of different legal publishers (including Editorial Aranzadi) and has developed an extensive work as the author of many articles and publications.
